A letter to the editor written to the local newspaper of Durham, NC:

Liberals claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war. They complain about his prosecution of it. One liberal recently claimed Bush was the worst president in U.S. history. Let's clear up one point: We didn't start the war on terror. Try to remember, it was started by terrorists BEFORE 9/11.
Let's look at the "worst" president and mismanagement claims. FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea
never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,333 per year. John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us. I think history might show Eisenhower committed the troops and Kennedy was honoring that commitment. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.
Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three time by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions. In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. We lost 600 soldiers, an average of 300 a year. Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack at home.

Worst president in history? Come on!

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but... It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51 day operation. We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time
than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records. It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Teddy Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.
It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!!

Hi, I'm Megan. I'm a conservative Republican attending one of the most liberal universities on the east coast(University of North Carolina Asheville). Whenever I see things like this, it makes me happy and I wanted to share it with my fellow hippie haters.

Why don't people post more stories about Cheech & Chong look-alikes getting unknowingly bulldozed more? I can chuckle about those. As for the silly letter to the editor- what does Saddam have to do with the War On Dru- I mean Pov- er... Terror?
You don't think saddam was a terrorist, and that he didn't run a country that funded, harbored, and encouraged terrorists?
I could, but that would mean rejecting all factual evidence. You do realize that we control the entire country, and have access to every surviving document Saddam had, no matter how classified. We were the ones funding Saddam for years, and I think we've done many times more to encourage terrorism by invading Iraq than anything Saddam ever did.
YOU SAID: You do realize that we control the entire country

I SAY: Huh?
We as a nation, government, or a people are NOT able to control ANYTHING effected by the outcome of what people try to do ...

YOU SAID: We were the ones funding Saddam for years

I SAY: and the point is??? Don't we fund the drug dealers in the housing projects too?

YOU SAID: I think we've done many times more to encourage terrorism by invading Iraq than anything Saddam ever did

I SAY: ... sure ... right!
1) that is why Libya quickly buckled BEFORE Saddam was captured.
2) the Palestinians (except for Hezbollah) are now working real hard towards a resolve with Israel

In the context of the conversation, control refers to control of territory, to say that I somehow implied mind control of all the creatures, natural processes, and citizens is silly.

Haha, no one funds drug dealers in housing projects, that's just your ignorance of housing projects and low-income people in general. Even if your notions were true, to analogize it to Saddam isn't compatible. We knowingly funded Saddam with goals in mind, as opposed to accidentally doing it.

Libya was a hoax. They announced they had a program related to the creation of things that could be used to manufacture weapons of mass destruction just so that they could announce that they were dismantling the program. We probably should have invaded them, rather than a nation that we knew did not have WMD stockpiles.

What? You're grasping at straws, especially considering the massive upheaval in the middle east that coincided with the Iraq invasion, (note: correlation, not necessarily a connection) as well as the extreme surge in militant fundamentalism. The Saudi family is threatened, as well as the governments of nearly all those nations (they are not threatened by pro-democracy movements, but by ever worse fascists).
